Alice Wong had just returned from the World Masters Games 2009 held in Sydney. Alice ran the 10km road race and did a personal best (PB).

"To break a 10 year old PB on world stage is just an incredible feeling" she said.

"The Opening and Closing Ceremony were also a great buzz, especially wearing green and gold and singing the Australian National Anthem. The other highlights were watching my friend won Gold and Silver medals" Alice said.

Alice also acted as an unofficial Aussie Greeter and took some international competitors to show off our fabulous city, Sydney.

“You never really want one until you need one” We are like doctors and nurses, until you are lying in a hospital bed waiting for a bed pan or a pain killer and “keep ringing the button”, and having to wait or suffer, our impact and importance is normally ignored in everyday life.

From my experience, I know that not everyone is made for, or indeed successful in this profession. In most reputable Agencies, most agents work long hours, they are physically active, use their creative and intellectual talents needed for gaining maximum impact when it comes to interpreting legal facts and specialist material. They are responsible for producing advertising material and marketing information, for negotiating and communicating with people from all walks of life, having the ability to deal and resolve all manner of issues on a daily basis to ensure that clients remain highly satisfied and happy with the service a real estate agent provides.

When you appoint your real estate agent, he or she makes a commitment to you to sell your biggest asset and to be available throughout the process, whenever you have a problem, need advice, assistance or simply reassurance. My personal opinion is that if my clients call me at 7pm on a Saturday night and they needed to talk; they need someone to listen and if it saves them from worrying all weekend, I am more than happy to help and be there for them at a time which is important to them. I see myself as their personal counsellor at a time that they need me.

All Real Estate Agents are governed by legislation; they invest their money, time and energy in on going training to ensure that they provide the very best possible service to clients. It takes one person within the industry, who is not fully committed to their client to unfortunately tarnish and ruin the reputation of the whole industry, and it’s very true that people remember the worst scenario’s or conversations rather than the good ones.

So it doesn’t surprise me at all that most successful agents refuse to lower their commission. When you consider that most real estate agents have either been through endless training and have built up their skills and experience over years or most today have been to University, studied for years to complete and pass complex exams in marketing, sales, management, business strategy and planning, budgeting and accounting; they are just as entitled to earn a decent wage equal to an accountant, architect or surveyor. You wouldn’t expect them to reduce their income, would you?

So when the time comes to “ringing the button”, consider the skills, talents and expertise of the real estate agent for the sale of your greatest asset.
